About the Artwork
Sweet on the surface. Brutal underneath.
Sugarcoat Warfare plays with contradiction. A pair of boxing gloves — objects designed for impact — are covered in bright red candy sprinkles, turning symbols of aggression into something playful and almost childlike.
But the sweetness is deceptive. The piece reflects how conflict is often disguised, softened, or “sugarcoated” to appear harmless when the reality underneath remains combative.
The tension between softness and violence sits at the center of the work. Bright colors and confectionery textures mask the true purpose of the object, forcing the viewer to question how often difficult truths are wrapped in something easier to digest.
